It’s always hard to understand who you really are or represent to someone else. You may think people like you because of the things you like, your taste in music, cool dress sense or the many other things you have in common. Others may look up to you in total awe and aspiration... but what is it about ‘brand me’ that your devoted fans really like, and more importantly, what don't they like!
Now apply this thought to a retail outlet. What keeps your devoted customer base coming back for more? What’s going to give you a larger client base? Do you need to attract a different age group? Who are they and where are they coming from ? Do you have what they want?

Shopping is something most of us do everyday, be it popping out for a pint of milk or a full scale assault on the high street for a whole new look. But whatever the reason to hit the shops, the shopping experience must be enjoyable, memorable, and something that makes you feel like you want to do it again.
But how to attract these discerning shoppers? - The ones who look at shopping as entertainment, the highlight of their week. Don't expect them to just wander into your store and spend. You have to have what they want...and once inside you have to make them stay. |
|
|
| |
Firstly, your window displays need to be of the highest quality...and this needs to be reflected once the customer is through the door - an innovative shopping environment, pleasing store layout that pulls you in and a choice of the hottest brands. Brand awareness is now big business. Customers know what they want and you should know what they want too. Gone are the days when only a designer label will do. |

We are on the cusp of a major shift in how we think about branding. Historically, a brand has been a promise that says, “If you buy this product you can rely on the attributes attached to that brand.” But we are seeing a new kind of branding emerge, a much more customer-centric branding where the promise is, “I know you as an individual customer better than anyone else, and you can trust me to assemble the right products or services to meet your individual needs.”

At JSA, we have a team of Graphic Designers available to you who specialise in branding. We have successfully completed many 'brand awareness brochures' on behalf of our clients, that communicate to their customers, and to potential new concession brands, the changes that might be taking place in store. These mini brochures offer a sneak preview of what a newly refurbished store has to offer and have been key instruments in attracting new brands instore.
It’s all about the detailing, the overall ‘packaging’ of your store image that make consumers and concessions want to be a part of your brand.

Austins, Newton Abbot
Austins in Newton Abbot asked JSA to produce a brochure highlighting their exciting new refurbishment. The brochure was very well received and was full of information about the new refurbishment and details of new brands that were keen to be associated with the new store.

de Gruchy, Jersey
JSA produced a brochure to outline the new store refurbishment they have been working on for de Gruchy in Jersey. The brochure has photographs of the parts of the store that have been completed, visuals of work in progress, and floor plans to show how the new development flows around the store. There is also information on the local area, outlining the stores target market, and details of the new brands the store will have on offer.

Similar projects were also undertaken for Camp Hopson in Newbury and Pearsons in Enfield.

Creaseys in Guernsey can trace its history back to 1899 when Benjamin Creasey (the Great Grandfather of the present directors) established a drapery business in Mill St, not far from today's "Bordage" store.
Today Managing Director Anthony Creasey is at the helm of this family run business. The already successful cosmetic, handbag and jewellery departments were ready to be transformed and updated. Anthony said “Like Creaseys, JSA are a family run business and have been working alongside us on several projects including the latest re-design of our brand new cosmetic department. Their flexible approach to the project ensured we were able to maintain trading, albeit in a restricted area but especially planned for the quietest time of the year to minimise the disruption to the business. The re-designed shop front draws in the customer focus to the refurbished interior and created an increased floor space of approximately 200sq ft.”
Anthony is pleased to report that sales have responded very encouragingly in the re-furbished space and particularly with the new perfumery houses that were added to the range. Jamieson Smith had previously completed projects in the linens and menswear departments and this investment completes a series of department refurbishments over a three year programme.
The panoramic window overlooking the harbour has been opened up to allow natural light and provides stunning views over the other islands. The introduction of a large illuminated sign internally provides visibility from the harbour and creates a superb focus of attention. The new look Creaseys comes at the right time to satisfy passenger’s expectations from cruise ships coming into the port, whilst maintaining the loyalty of locals on the island. |

Sarah Cox, Senior Designer at JSA, had this to say about the project “The brief was to completely transform the ground floor including a new shop front, cosmetics, handbags and jewellery departments. One of the key elements to the success of the project was the close relationship JSA had with the existing and new cosmetic houses. This total refurbishment of current brands was complemented by the introduction of new brands Benefit and Lancôme.”
Each concession completed their own shop fit co-coordinated by JSA which ensured a complimentary look and flow to the new space.
